Volunteers are valued as critical partners who share in our mission to end homelessness one life at a time, enabling program success through collaboration with staff and residents.
VISION STATEMENT
Volunteers are intimately woven into the fabric of Cathedral Center’s mission, vision, and services, working alongside staff as champions for the homeless women and families we serve.
CULTURE STATEMENT
Volunteers are an integral part of our services and bring much life to our shelter environment. From 9am-8pm each day, volunteers work to enhance our programs and serve our residents.
Over 1,400 individuals volunteer annually at Cathedral Center.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Individual Opportunities
- Front Desk Reception: Serve as main greeter and first responder to day-to-day activity including answering the phone, main door, directing client needs, and completing administrative tasks. This position is available from 8am-5pm.
- Shelter Aid: Volunteers support shelter operations by completing client check-in and working alongside shelter staff to maintain shelter activity and meet clients’ needs. This position is available 4-8pm.
- Volunteer qualifications: Must be over 18 years old and able to commit to 4 hours weekly.
Group Opportunities
- Hospitality: Groups of 5-10 volunteers are needed to provide and serve dinner to 50-60 shelter guests each night of the year.
- Special Projects: Volunteers are needed to complete beautification and seasonal projects to ensure a comfortable environment!
- Special Programming: Volunteers can facilitate various special programming based on skills and experiences (crafting, reading, personal development, game night, etc.).
Internships
- Interns studying Social Work, Human Services or Psychology are welcome to apply for a position within case management, Friendship House or shelter program. Please send a resume and cover letter to [email protected]
